Tattooing, piercing, scarification, body shaping and pain rituals have been used for centuries by communities for many reasons.  Maellyn and Andy travelled to Amsterdam to meet the legendary Henk Schiffmacher, otherwise known as Hanky Panky, at the Amsterdam Tattoo Museum to learn more about the reasons behind traditional body modification.  Sacred Skin will travel to find the last communities who still use body modification as part of their culture, to document the fascinating stories behind these practices before they die out.
